Fruit flies

Wingless fruit fly cultures for sale, priced per cup. Choose Drosophila melanogaster or the larger Drosophila hydei. They feed dart frogs, baby geckos, mantids and other small insect eaters. Each cup is a live culture, so new flies keep hatching from it after it arrives.

Melanogaster or hydei?

D. melanogaster is the smaller fly. D. hydei is larger, for animals that have outgrown melanogaster. Both come as wingless cultures, so the flies can't fly off and stay where you put them until your animal finds them.

Wholesale fruit fly price breaks

Fruit flies are priced per cup. Wholesale accounts pay less per cup at 6, 12 and 20 cups. Pet stores, breeders and keepers with big collections can apply for a wholesale account.

Shipping and live arrival

Orders ship sometime between Sunday and Wednesday to the lower 48 states and DC. We may hold an order when heat or cold on the route puts live insects at risk. If a culture arrives dead, email photos or video within 1 hour of delivery, and we resend a qualifying order once at no cost. Details are on our shipping page.
